The life of a runner, mother, radiopharmacist and vicar's wife – that's me!
I don’t normally suffer from allergies but, these last few days, I’ve really noticed that I can’t breathe deeply. Also, I’ve struggled on my runs. I took it fairly easy today but I’m not sure I could have gone much faster if I’d tried (3.6 miles at 8:00 min per mile). I think the two things are connected.
It reminds me of when we lived in China. I got a very bad allergy in the second summer we were there and I couldn’t run because all my joints seemed to seize up. I couldn’t even run for the bus. It was strange because when I had that problem, I was able to cycle but just not run. So, I’m thinking that it might be a good idea to do a bit of cycling rather than running while I’m having this trouble with my breathing because it’s a bit discouraging running when it is so hard and not very quick. I wonder if anybody else has had a similar problem or if people who normally get hay fever are finding it particularly bad right now.
Daniel has been playing with the finger puppet theatre. Some time ago I knitted the three little pigs and a big bad wolf. He was getting the big bad wolf to gobble up the three little pigs. I tried to point out that the third pig didn’t actually get eaten but he was having too much fun getting the wolf to eat the pigs to notice.
Naomi still hasn’t quite mastered the art of roller skating yet. When I went to see how she was getting on she was in deep conversation with Peter and not really concentrating on her skating technique at all. She doesn’t seem to realise that you have to actually move your legs a bit. She did enjoy going down the slope though.
